Aftermarket alarm, useless car.

I have a 1991 Camaro Z28 that I bought from a "Thirdgen Dealership" locally. The guy buys all of his cars from Milwaukee, most are from impound/seized car lots. The Z28 I bought was seized in Milwaukee, and has an aftermarket alarm in it by Hornet Alarms. Any time you open a door or sit on the car, the alarm would start going off. I don't have the fob for the alarm, as the car was seized. The alarm is tapped into every last thing on the car, the headlights, park lamps, brake lights, cd player, interior dome light, all of that flashes with the alarm. We cut the wiring to the siren so that we didn't have to hear it going off all day long.

So, this is what we did, first thing we did was remove the junk radio it had in it, it was a poor quality deck, and had no face plate. As soon as we did that, the alarm started going off less, but now none of lights work on the car. The other thing that doesn't work are the door unlock and lock buttons, but they do lock when you start the car.

We just recently pulled the alarm box out of the car, and of course, the alarm doesn't go off at all anymore, but none of the things work, still.

Anyone had a similar problem with their cars? How bad could the wiring harness be chopped up?

Thanks!

Can’t tell without seeing the car however you want it fixed.

You want to do the lights first so you can drive at night.

The wire that is responsible for the marker lights is a
16 AWG brown one.

The alarm wires for the flashing function was probably inserted into that wire between the headlight switch and the firewall connector.

TIP: When you see cut wires of the same
COLORS
and gage you can splice those.

You can temporarily put a fuse inline if you’re unsure.

Happy Racing!
