no power to fuel pump relay sometimes

i have a 92 TPI 5.0
intermittently the car will loose power form the 12 volt line going to the fuel pump relay
the car will cut off, when i try to restart the fuel pump wont prime and it just turns and wont fire
but sometimes after 5 to 15 mins or so it will be fine and run normal from just sitting and doing nothing
Ive noticed it has done this twice when i started the car for the first time in the morning but it has left me on the road a couple times in the middle of the day as well
any thoughts?

OK you’re describing the line that goes from the pump fuse to pin A orange wire of the relay.

Inspect the pump fuse near the battery, the wire that runs from the fuse to the relay for a PO splice, and the connection of the wire to pin A.

Re: Pump Slump

the orange wire of the relay goes to a huge bundle of wires in a wiring harness that heads back to the back of the engine near the firewall

At least one of those wires makes it’s way to the pump fuse unless it was modified by the PO.

It goes from the relay, along the firewall, heads to the right, then heads to the fuse by the battery.

Cool, how did you find out it was that weather pack connector?

Re: no power to fuel pump relay sometimes

for those following this while the car was running Zepher jiggled some of the connections and that weatherpack connector would make the car shut off when messed with
