91 z-28 fan wiring

I just bought a 91 z-28, and I am relativly new to messing around with domestics, when I got it the fan was wired (poorly) a switch in the cabin. I was hoping that someone could tell me what I could wire it to, for the fan to start when the engine starts. I have guessed on a couple of wires, but none of them worked, they either made the fan always on(even when the car is off), or never on. so if you could tell me the color, the location, and what the wire is for, that would be great.

thanks

Re: 91 z-28 fan wiring

Does the switch work? Why do you want the fan to be on all the time? It defeats the object of having an electric fan. If you really want the fan to be on all the time find the fan relay and ground the small green/white wire. But it would be much better to have it by a thermostat and/or the over-ride switch.
