i really need some help here
i have no idea whats wrong here and i was hoping one of you could help me out because i'm lost here. ok here is what happens, there is absolutely no power in my car. no radio, no lights, nothing. i checked the battery and cables and their both fine. now the weird thing is if i push the door trigger switch the power will come back on until i turn the key to the start position, it just makes a single click and then dies again. i just haven't got a clue what the deal is here so any help is appreciated, its a 1984 trans am 305v8 and automatic trans

Sounds like you have a ground issue - the door switch akes a ground contact for the interior lights - when you push the switch your making that needed ground, but starting is too much amperage and blows it. Check all your groundstraps.
