I HAVE NO KEY for the hatch either, how in the hell can i get this thing open i have tried it all, if i have to pop the lock i will but tell me what i can do without ruining anything, i have already takin off the back plastic panel in the trunk to expose the trunk motors and stuff but how can i open it?

You're almost there..! Go back inside the hatch and use either a screw driver or needle nose to trigger / trip the lock mechanism from inside. It can be done.

Once it's open, take out the lock set and if it's in good shape have a new key made for it by a locksmith.

Good luck

Or, you could pull out a door lock cylinder, have a key cut from it, and use it to open the hatch Thats what I did for my 82.

is there a way that maybe i could drill out the center of the lock cylinder without harming anything else and pop it that way? and just replace the cylinder?

You definitely don't need to do anything that invasive. Crawl into the hatch area and look in the area behind the hatch motor. You should see a slit that looks like a big lock cylinder. Take a screw driver put it in said slit and turn it like it's a key, your hatch should pop open.

Re: hatch wont open please help!!!

Is the ground wire still attached to the 10mm screw that mounts the latch release solenoid? If it is missing the solenoid will not fire because it is isolated from ground by the guides. If this doesn't solve the problem, unscrew the 10mm screw that attaches the hatch release solenoid to the latch. Remove the cylinder. It will expose a square hole. Inside you'll see a tang that the solenoid pulls. You want to press it to the right which will cause it to rotate CCW and release the latch.
