Factory alarm?

So I know these cars came with VATS from the factory, but I was also told that this alarm system(in the pics) was factory. It looks like a fairly poor job done by someone, and not something I would really expect from GM. And there are a few disconnected/cut and twisted together.

The first pic is the entire system that basically fell out when i removed the bottom portion of the dash.

The second one has the wires that were cut and the other two that were twisted together. The cut ones were gray and black(i believe) and the twisted together were red and blue. I labeled em too!

Would you mind letting me know if these are factory, or aftermarket? and either way would someone tell where I can get a new FOB? Mine broke off the keychain in a Super Target, i think, and disappeared.

Re: Factory alarm?

Factory did not install any alarms in the 3rd gens. Some dealers might have, but factory did not. I'd hunt all over for any writing, and search ebay or something to see if you can find what you need.

Try AutoZone, they advertise they sell alarms and parts like Remotes. If the box has a model number, try google. Good luck.

ha! after about an hour of fumbling around, and all that....stuff, i emerged victorious and removed the stupid half-a****d alarm. It was connected with electrical tape. Nothing else. So, reconnecting all this stuff tomorrow morning, and I'll fire her up. I'm so excited =D
