Please help me asap if you could please the steering column in my 1991 firebird has really bad tilt and all of a sudden the windsheild wipers wont work, we checked the and replaced the motor and fuse, the wipers still dont work so we assume its the switch in the column since also my bright indinacator broke too. Went to the junkyard and got a 1986 steering column out of a trans am. Ive heard they bolt up the same and everything and should have no problems. MY concern is that the 86 column has no key so i need to put my original 1991 ignition with VATS into the 86 column which i planned on doing anyway. Were doing the swap monday morning and scared were gonna have a problem and the car is not gonna start after we switch everything, How do we put the VATS ingniton in the old column and run the vats wiring that goes to the igniton into the 86 column. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Basically need to know after we put my 1991 igniton with vats into the 86 colum how do we get VATS hooked up and working. IVe heard theres like 1 or 2 wires that we have to run down the colum and connect to something? Need to know what color the wires are, what they look like, and how exactly we do this?

Should be able to put the VATS key cylinder into the non-VATS column - there's just two tiny wires, should be white inside a orange sleeve (looks kind of like orange shrink wrap that hasn't been shrunk). www.thirdgen.org/vats
