Re: GM Electric Power Steering????

From the looks of it, it can probably be done. If you are a decent welder/fabricator, you can probably buy their setup and modify it to fit to your car, in the video they show the brackets it is mounted to, so you should be able to fab up your own and weld them to the car. Their website is painful to view, but if you say it has all the stuff they used then you should be able to find where to get the entire assembly from there.

To be honest, if you're looking at that, and thinking to yourself "I have no clue where to begin" rather than "Ok, I'm going to need a mounting bracket, some way to adapt to the steering wheel and the steering box, you're probably in way over your head, but if you do decide to take on the project, keep us updated with pictures

Re: GM Electric Power Steering????

I know this is old, but it came up in a search on the subject, as I am also tentatively-investigating this for our C Prepared Firebird. I know of a handful of Prepared-class Solo competitors who have installed such a system on their cars. One was an XP Miata -> RX8. The cars feature a LS3. Another that I know if is a D Prepared-class Miata. The DP car is pretty dang quick. I expect the XP car to be competitive too.

The EPS unit used in the XP car is the '05-'06 Saturn Vue/Chevy Equinox. You can fab everything up yourself, or get a kit from companies like ePower Steering:

http://www.epowersteering.com/

You'll have to supply your own manual steering gear.

I haven't done this yet, and still not sure I will, but am thinking about it, or a quicker gearbox to replace my leaking gearbox currently on the car. The jury is still out.
