harness troubleshooting
Alright guys, I'm finally back into the thirdgen game after selling everything but my wife to start a business. My car is an 88 Formula, 5 speed originally 305 tpi but with a 350 swap. I only drove the car once (the day I bought it) and then it sat for about a year (about six months outside
).
When i got it, it didn't run perfect, but in 1 hour of driving, I only had the check engine light come on once for about 3 seconds. Now, with a brand new battery. she starts up and the SES light stays solid. When grounding out the proper pins in the ALDL, the SES light will not blink, not even the normal code 12. I also noticed a really faint spark when connecting the positive terminal bolt. It has the ECM out of an 89 T/A350/auto.
So I'm thinking wiring, maybe a critter made a meal out of some of it? Didn't see any nests or anything in there. Also, I have 3 grounds, Neg cable main, neg cable pigtail to fender and grounding strap from pass. head to firewall. All look good.
Anybody have any possibilities besides an eaten wire? And if not, where is the best place to start pulling things apart and looking at the wiring? I figure someone here will have a logical process to suggest instead of the random wiggle and pray approach I'm considering. I'm thinking the car is in Limp mode or something as it seems to be SUPER rich

Re: harness troubleshooting
well for anyone else who might have this problem, ECM is shot. Tested with a known working unit, worked perfectly
