3.1 to 5.0 harnesses
3.1 to 5.0 harnesses
I've got a 1992 camaro that I recently removed the 3.1 V6 and engine harness out of. I've installed a 1992 camaro 5.0 and ECM. I'm curious if the engine side of this new harness will integrate seamlessly with the original interior harness. Upon initial inspection they appeared to be quite similar.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: 3.1 to 5.0 harnesses
Depends which 5.0 you're swapping in
TPI, plug and play no difference
TBI, you need to move the VSS wires and add a buffer box. I will still plug in and run fine, just without the speedo until the buffer box is installed
EDIT: Assuming you're using a 90-92 TBI/TPI harness. Need more info if using an older harness

Re: 3.1 to 5.0 harnesses
The TBI engine harness is a 1992. Where would one acquire one of these buffer boxes? Is this a fairly common item that can be picked up at a parts store? If I swapped the v6 gaugcluster with a v8 one, would this problem be eliminated?
I also have another electrical question. The electrical plugs that physically snap onto the injectors have been cut. There are four wires: red, white, and two greens. Im assuming these greens are negative and one goes to each injector with the red and white being positive??
Thanks so much!!!
