I recently switched from EFI to carb. I have ripped out the computer, so none of my gauges work now.
The fuel pump is working and pressurizes, but the pick wire running from the pump I thought was the gauge wire, and the fuel gauge doesn't budge when it pressurizes. Did this pink wire used to go to the computer, then back to the gauge?
For the oil pressure, I have all my oil sensors on the motor, and wasn't sure if these went to the computer and then the gauges, or from the motor right to the gauges. Same as the water temp sender and switch.
Also, do I now have to power the gauges using some new method? The dash lights up, but the gauges don't seem to work.
Can anyone advise on this? I tried looking through some threads but haven't found anything.

the oil, tach, and coolant temp gauge wiring runs through the c100 connector on the driver side firewall. they do not rely on the computer for readings. this should give you a good idea where to start testing:

If not ;you are going to have to replace the gauge wiring you removed

I have the car on, engine running, but not one single gauge has a reading on it. I am wondering if there used to be a power source coming through the passenger side that isn't hooked up any more?

Most gauges work by power going to ground at the sender unit so I would be looking for a disconnected power supply going to the cluster; most likely from the fuse panelOriginally Posted by jetblacknewyear

have you checked the cluster fuse?

Just did some cleaning up of wires on my 86 bro, there are 3 RED wires..around 12 gauge..they power the fuse block. So all ya gotta do is look around the brake booster and the 3 larger red wires are the one's you want. Only 1 of them will power up the fuse block..BUT I went ahead and powered all 3 just in case..lol.
