in my camaro the gas gauge is not accurate or not working it always moves back to full, in fact the only time it does'nt say full is when i press the brake it will move to the actual amount of gas i have then shoot back up to full ive been reading online and so far from what i can tell maybe its not grounded properly? can anyone suggest a solution or maybe a how-to in order to fix this i am going on a trip to California from Texas and i want an accurate reading on my gas. thanks for any input

its a 3.1 v6

 

the proper way to do it would be to drop your tank, remove the sending unit, them ohm out the sending wires and make sure its going in the 0-90 range like its supposed to, if its in spec id look at the gauge next
