factory guages...how accurate and reliable?
Okay, going to fire up my new 383 this week. My factory guages are hooked up, but just how reliable and accurate are they. I have a set of mechanical guages I can install just to be safe, thoughts?

Assuming the speedometer is setup for the correct gear ratio in the rear end, they are accurate enough for general driving purposes.

I was thinking more along the lines of oil pressure and coolant temp.

The gauges themselves are fairly reliable, usually it's the senders that need replacing. They might not be the most accurate, but they'll show you the trends that you need to recognize just fine.
