Quick VATS bypass question
Last year, I bought a new key which solved my no start issue (pellet in old key was very worn). Now though, I'm getting some odd issues that started before the failure last time - door buzzer with key on intermitant, starter begins to turn over, stops momentarily then goes again.
So, because I think my issue isn't cut and dry and that is sometimes reads the key, I hesitate doing the below, only because if it does read the key then the resistantance would be to high, right?

Could I instead just disconnect the plug and insert the resistors in the one side so it only sees the resistor's resistance and starts?

Re: Quick VATS bypass question
It's not the key side of the plug that needs to see the correct resistance, it's the other. Failure of the wires generally happens in the column somewhere, often near the ignition lock cylinder due to the twisting involved in starting, so either that connection has already failed or you can cut the wire on the key side of the plug to insert resistors, unplug it and remove from the car to make your new connections, then plug back in

Re: Quick VATS bypass question
if you have the resistor in there and leave the column half pluged into the circuit, then yes if it reads the keys resistance and the resitors resistance, it will cause the value read by the VATS module to read to high. just unplug the connector then use the resistor on the right side and tuck it out of the way and be done with it.
