TransAm Headlight issue...

Ok so I'm not sure if this is common or if anyone has had this problem but when I turn my headlights on they come up just fine but the lights don't come on, it doesn't work on low beam or high beam. The original owner re-routed the headlights through a secondary switch that controls the low beams and high beams(switch in off position is low beams and on position is high beams). Anyways I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening/a fix for this issue..... Thanks

Due to the modifications by the PO there’s no telling what the problem might be however when you switch the headlights on power is supposed to be sent to the dimmer switch VIA the yellow wire, then to the low or high beams, VIA the tan wire or light green wire respectively.

You might want to get rid of the PO’s mods and rewire it to factory specs.

That’s the most convenient configuration.

Happy Racing!

Re: LiteBrite

Sounds like a relay problem, and PO was too lazy to find and fix the right way! There is a relay for your headlights/pop-up motor found on the top right behind the radiator cradle. $8-$12 per relay.....give that a go!

Re: TransAm Headlight issue...

The relays control the doors opening/closing only, not the lights themselves. Agree though that the PO was lazy, and didn't fix the hi-beam switch the right way, as Nina describes.

Re: TransAm Headlight issue...

Seems to be a brake in the wiring somewhere. If it was my car, I would try to put all wiring back to normal and trace/test wiring with a light tester or multi-meter. It may take long but easy to do and fix.
