terrible wire mess. what is this?

huge connector on the driver's side firewall, underneath the relay's. 89 GTA TPI. what is it? and what's all that tar **** all over?

That is c100 with a Bituminous sealant.

So what is the reason for the sealent?

And what is the c100 connected to?

sealant is used to keep moisture out of the terminal connection.

reason I ask cause it seems more of a pain than it's worth. I'll probably have to cut those wires off cause they don't budge

You can get them off if you keep pulling it side to side and it eventually loosens and gives way.
