I have a 91 Formula with the late / tan plastic hatch pull down release...
It pulls down fine, and with the turn of the key, also releases...
I was told that these units can release electronically (with a switch) but I don't think my Formula has one... & I want to wire it up to an aux channel on my remote alarm...
There seem to be 5 wires going into the unit...
Is there one I can ground (or apply 12v) to release?
Is this a momentary or on while traveling connections?
1 more thing on the list before it's off to paint
Thanks,
Rafael

Anyone ?
I've been told that the later 91's (with tan plastic, like mine has) is supposed to electronically move the hatch up and when it gets to the top, then release the hatch...
But when I use the key, mine is not doing that... the key releases it immediately, and even after the hatch is up (good struts), the motor is still working it's way up... ??
Anyone with a 92 manual?
thanks,
Rafael

Thats how my 92s work. I have factory dash release switches tho.
The wiring for the switch should be wrapped in foam and be behind the dash below right the gauges and above the HVAC controls.

Still need help with this...
there is no button on my Formula...
Does anyone have a 92 Factory manual that can scan the few pages for the wiring for the trunk release? $5 via paypal....
Is the trunk release button just a ground, is there an additional relay pack needed for it, etc???
Thanks...

Ok... found em... Now to make it work... ?!?!?
To save someone some grief down the road...
So I dug behind the dash panel where the trunk release is supposed to be, and there it was, wrapped up from the factory. I probed a few wires and could get the up / down to up, but at the top of the cycle, no release and it came back down again and stopped...
Checked out the motor.... There is supposed to be a plate with a ramp (which mine didn't have, since again, didn't have that option from the factory) and the latch assemble is supposed to have an arm that once it starts rising, hits the ramp and begins turning, which releases the latch so the trunk flies open.... Mine doesn't even have that arm...
So Top Down Solutions sells those 2 pieces... the plate with the ramp and the latch with the correct arm....
Lesson, so if your late 91 or 92 didn't have the trunk pop option from the factory, the wiring is there, but there are 2 hardware pieces you need to change out to get it to work...
Thanks Lon @ Top Down Solutions for your help on this and many of the other products I've purchased from you...
