Fuel Guage not working,

I have a 91 firebird,,305 TBI,,i just replaced the fuel pump and i replaced the sending unit with a new one,, i've put 10 gal of gas in it and the guage still sets on empty,,any ideas,, i hope the new sending unit isn't bad.

Did you plug the new unit in and confirm the fuel gauge responded to movements at the sending unit before you bolted everything up?

no,,,(sigh),,old sending unit had it peged past full,, we didn't think to plug it up before installing it in the tank. When we turn key on gauge went to empty,, then we put 10 gal gas in it.it still sets on empty.

A pegged full reading means there is an break circuit, pegged empty, the circuit is grounded out.
