91 high RPM issues

I have a 1991 civic with 204k miles, and when i bought it i did a full tune up on it and about a month later i started having issues at high rpms. I am now unable to go on the freeway because whenever I go above 55mph my car starts to cut out. If i let it go too long then it wont start for about a day. I have been told it could be the relay or the distributor itself. I replaced the cap, the rotor, and spark plug and wires. If anyone knows a way for me to test what it is that is wrong that would be greatly appreciated for I am trying to sell the car before i go into the service, but want this taken care of first.
