Rear hatch key

So the hatch seemed to work fine when I got this car but the key I have fits in the lock but dont turn. I have taken out the lock and was going to take it to a locksmith to see if the lock can be fixed. These electric hatches are suppose to open with the key right? I didnt know if the lock needed power to let the hatch open with the key or not. I have the car torn down to the frame so there is no power. Still the key should turn freely regardless?

Yes the door key should open the hatch lock also. If is it s good locksmith he'll be able to help you. I had the same problem wiht my Firebird. The only key I had was too worn to open the passenger door or hatch. It would only open the drivers door. I took the car to my local locksmith. He looked at the key and said he could cut me a new key by estimating what the original key looked like, but it would cost more and might take a few tries. It took him 2 tries and I had a working key. I had him cut several spares from that one.
