Dash lights flickering when car is running
i put all new LED's into the gauge cluster. With the car off, the gauge lights dim perfectly without flickering. When the car is running the gauge lights flicker. If i turn the brightness all the way up they stop flickering. When i try to dim them they flicker really bad.

One of the disadvantages of LED’s is their inability to self average.
The alternator is not putting out a flat voltage, but isn’t necessarily defective.
Once you give the alt a quick check and determine it to be good, do the below:
When you had incandescent bulbs the filaments averaged the output VIA their mass.
So, how to make LED’s perform as good as incandescent?
All you need is a capacitor and a diode.
Start with a 1000μF (microfarad) capacitor with a working voltage of 24 or better.
The μF might need to be changed depending on the draw of your LED’s.
For the diode you can anything from a 1N4001 up.
I use 1N4007 for these type of circuits so my electronics never fail.
Now, install the capacitor across the input side of the LED array.
Observe polarity like a battery.
The capacitor needs to be fed from the diode.
The diode also has polarity, the line on the diode goes toward the load.
Your circuit is now complete.
You might notice a delay when you dim the dash.
If it’s too long of a delay use a capacitor with a smaller μF value.
If flickering is still noticeable use a capacitor with a larger μF value.
