87 Trans Am Efi to Carb: Speedometer and Backup Lights.
First of all I want to say Hi,
I used to be a strong Ford guy but I feel in love with my Trans Am. I like the fact that I can go to any GM car or truck and interchange parts. It just makes me smile taking a 350 truck engine off a Chevy and put it in my Pontiac because it's GM. I also like how the the starter bolts up compared to a Ford 302 foxbody. I still like my Fords but I like my GM better.
Okay, here the dilemma. I got a 1987 Trans am, 305 TPI, 5-speed. Pulled that out and dropped a freshly rebuild Gm 357 (350 bored 0.40 over). The engine has a edelbrock 4 barrel carb with a mech. fuel pump. Kept the tranny, rewired everything at c100 connector. Engine runs and everything. I can't seem to find my speedometer wires that go to the tranny. I found the rear connection and I beleive thats the back-up lights, I could be wrong but anyway. Thats pugged in, now i can't find that dadgum speedometer wire. I still got the old ECM Harness. I tried doing a search but I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for.

Okay, I've read the thread and did more research. I do have the "Speedometer" wire pluged in the rear of the tailshaft. What I need to know is, I got my wheels off the ground and wheels are spinning. But my speedometer is not working. Is there a break in the circuit between vss buffer and the insument cluster? Thanks you for the link
