Wiper Motor.
Hi,
Am having a problem with the wiper motor on an 82 Firebird. I replaced the panel at the back of the engine that the wiper moter bolts to. They must have changed the design on these at some point as the 82 motor doesn't fit into the opening properly so had to mount it with spacers about 10mm further out. The wiper motor has the delay and the low and high speeds. It will work okay a few times and the next time I use it it pops the 25 Amp fuse. The fuse goes before the wipers move. I disassembled the motor and the brushes are okay. I set it up manually on a bench and it works fine on the low and high speeds. I can't figure out what the problem could be. Anyone any ideas or what else I could check.
Thanks.

Re: Wiper Motor.
If the fuse blows pretty quickly, I believe there could be a wire that is shorted somewhere that attaches to the wiper motor. See if you can trace it and find anything unusual. Inform me if you discover anything.

Re: Wiper Motor.
Think I might have sorted it. On the power connector to the wiper motor there is a diode between pins 1 and 2 (pin2 is the power to the wiper motor). There is electrical tape around the connector so the diode can not be seen. I think that might have been shorting as it worked the last 2 days.
