need some help

Hey everyone. I'm new here and I just picked up an 89 formula rolling chassis for $200. I'm curious is it possible to test all the electrical, like power windows, locks, headlights, hatch lock etc. With no engine in the car? I tried just hooking up the battery and I got one small spark but nothing worked. Re grounded the main battery cable to the frame and tried again and nothing at all. Is there a main fuse I might have popped or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help

Re: need some help

take the battery and a set of electrodes from a multimeter and attach them to the battery. For the windows all you do is hit the prongs inside where the harness attaches to it when you take the plug off. 1 way is up and if you switch them it goes down. locks im not sure of. headlights you can test the motors the same way as the window by putting power to them. Hatch if its power you have to take off the car and hit the 2 metal openings on the underneath of the motor. its the same as the window as well with 1 way is up and if you switch them it will go down

Fight The Power

To power the car with no engine connect the battery + to the wires that would go to the starter as well as the battery cables, and the to the chassis.

There is no ‘main fuse’ however you might have blown a Fusible Link.

Fusible Links usually look like a one inch plastic rod in line with the wire and are located near the battery or at the starter.

Happy Racing!
