Elec hatch issues.

cars an 89. its worked perfect until the other day. I had my GF shut the hatch VERY softly and when the hatch hit the lock , it didnt lock the hatch but instead locked itself and lowered itself to the lowest position. Thats it. i tried the button to unlock it and it does unlock but the hatch drive does not come back up. Anythoughts? I cant close my hatch now as theres nothing to lock it too. also the rear cargo lamp is out and third brake light as well. No fuses are blown. everyother interior light works. does anybody have a full wiring diagram for this? i jumped the relay in case that was the issue but i think that made it worse.

third brake light is out cuz your hatch lid isn't completely closed. that being said im on the same boat when I got my Camaro it was in the upright position but then I was determined to fix it and replaced all components but now its stuck in the down position don't know how but it wont lock till I fiquere how to make it in the upright position.

I forgot to say check if power is going to the relay and if not just replace it. also you could simply replace your reverse switch on the hatch lid motor.

sometimes it resets if you pull the lid up then take the battery loose for a few seconds then reconnect it. of course this doesnt do anything if there is a problem

Re: Elec hatch issues.

you dont unbolt it. just leave the deck lid, since its not attached to the part that moves up and down, up in the open position. then when you unhook the battery and reattach it it will sometimes go to the up position if its working properly. then you can close the truck and it will go back down

im not sure I follow, so yer saying I should leave it bolted to the frame in the down position then do what?, cuz I don't think unplugging the battery is going to make it do something just saying because I had to replace the battery one time and I didn't notice the change

Re: Elec hatch issues.

you wouldnt with the trunk lid down. just put the lid up, disconnect the battery wait a little while and reconnect it, and if the motor is working it will come up

Re: Elec hatch issues.

The pull-down unit may have shut off just prior to fully reaching the bottom of the down cycle. Reach inside and press the striker-sensing switch which is just in front of the latch. It is connected with a single hex-head screw and has 3 wires coming out of it. The unit should power down the remainder of the down cycle, then you'll hear a CLICK of the reversing switch being tripped to end the down cycle. Release the switch and the unit will cycle all the way up and you'll again hear a CLICK as the reversing switch is tripped to end the up cycle. The unit will now be re-set and ready to accept the hatch hook and power down.
