Electrical gremlins...
Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster. Just want to say I have found a wealth of information here and GREATLY appreciate it! I have resolved many issues in my vert due to the information and now she is almost ready to fly!
I ran across a particularly vexing issue today after setting the timing/IAC/TPS. Took the car out for a test drive and rolled the windows down due to the heat (summer in Florida). As I pulled back into the driveway, I tried to roll the windows up but got nothing. Neither window would roll up. Hmmm...
Pulled the car in the garage and started troubleshooting. First, replaced circuit breakers in the fuse panel, no joy. Next I started ringing out wires with my meter. Results are:
Key on:
Power side of c/b 12.7 volts......good to go.
Continuity from pink wire at switch to the neg side of c/b, no joy.
Further digging (aka dis-assembly) uncovered a pink wire going from the fuse panel to a junction block (C238 I believe) just above and left of the fuse panel on the inner fender well. I discovered that, due to the age of our cars, the connections can become corroded and you can have intermittent contact just from driving over bumps or over a gutter at the end of your driveway! The contacts in C238 were definitely corroded. A small bump was all it took to interrupt the circuit for the windows on my car.
A little CRC Lectra Motive contact cleaner on the suspect junction block and all was good. Don't know if this will help, but it is a good place to look as there are many wires going from the fuse panel to this particular j-block (GM calls it a connector hence C238). Now for the "other"MINOR issues"..........
