ALDL Question

Whats up!
I'm not very savvy when it comes to electrical issues, so here it goes. How do you apply power to the ALDL through terminal "G"? Im trying to resolve my code 33 issue and this is what Vader said

"With the ignition off, unplug the MAF and apply power to ALDL terminal "G". Check the red wire on the MAF connector for power. If no power, verify 12VDC on relay connector orange and white/tan wires. Verify the connector black/white wire is grounded. Verify black wire from MAF
connector terminal B to ECM connector A11 with an ohm meter. Verify red wire from relay connector to MAF connector with an ohm meter. If all is good replace MAF power relay. "

Do you unplug the MAF and turn on the ignition on? jumper from another terminal?

Thanks

The flow chart for Code 33 in the FSM states:
  1. Ignition OFF
  2. Jumper ALDL Terminal G to 12 volts using a fused jumper.
  3. Disconnect MAF sensor.
  4. Probe harness Terminal E (CKT 993) with test light to ground.

Make yourself a fused jumper. Get one of those universal fuse holders. Cut the loop and add in additional lengths of wire on both ends as needed.

Connect the fused jumper from Terminal G in the ALDL to a 12 volt source that's hot with the key off. You can connect it directly to the positive battery terminal.

What you're doing here is you're confirming that there's 12 volts at the MAF.

BTW, when you jumper Terminal G the fuel pump should run. This is because when you feed 12 volts thru Terminal G, the power runs first thru the fuel pump relay and then to the MAF power relay.

My description doesn't fully describe the steps you describe in your post. It just addresses your questions with some additional explanation.
