Tach Swap

I have a 1985 Z28 that has a 5000RPM redline tach. I got a tach from the junkyard that is a 6000RPM redline.

Is this a direct swap? Are all tachs interchangeable?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Tach Swap

Yup, those will interchange.

Not all tachs will swap: 4/6/8 cyl ones are different. But as long as they're for the right # of cyls, they will.

I never even looked at what was in the other car for a engine. Did v6 csrs have 6000rpm redline tachs?

The tach you got from the scrap yard probably IS a V6 Tach. Look at the oil pressure guage,...... 30/60 = V8 and 40/80 = V6.

The 'HO' or '350' version of the V8 Tachometer has a yellow @ 5K and red @ 5500 RPM. All other V8's are 4400 Yellow line.
