86' Camaro TPS problem
Hi! I cannot manage the problem with my Camaro 86' 5.0 TPI. It starts perfectly and works quite stable, but:
Is it possible that when harness get warm it doesn't work properly?
- sometimes after few minutes on idle it suddenly stops (I don't even touch the car). It works stabel, suddenly RPM are going up, SES is lighting constantly, engine chokes and stops.
- when engine is hot SES usually lights up
- when I drive gently its OK, but when I want to accelerate rapidly SES lights up and engine choke for a second (and I can drive) or it is choking constantly and turns off (even while driving - its not fun
). When it comes, I cannot start the engine for a while. After few tries it starts, but it is not stable, RPM waving. - sometimes when I turn ignition on (but don't start engine) SES starts to twinkle randomly as if there is a short-circuit... Sometimes nothing happens with SES.
- when I reset the computer it works perfect again till problems described above appear again...

Re: 86' Camaro TPS problem
There is communication problem with ECM, but as I know before TPS replacement it showed TPS problem. It is not possible to get codes now.
Just please tell me if engine temperature (when its hot) can influence the harness operating parameters (= engine harness is old / broken and it should be replaced)?
Or maybe I should just look for an open circuit first (= temperature shouldn't influence electrical problems?)
thnx!

Re: 86' Camaro TPS problem
I dont see it being the cause of the problem but with electrical anything can cause anything to happen. I know with a car that i was working on i found out that the car had a bad pcm fuse and relay. Have you checked those by any chance.
