Quick 12 v question

I am buying a 12v extension cord for my emergency lights.
The cord handles 5 amps and 60 watts
My light bar pulls in 6.5 amps and 40 watts. Will this cord work or will I blow a fuse?

Re: Quick 12 v question

Hmmmm........

Volts × Amps = Watts

12 × 5 = 60 (ok so far)

12 × 6.5 = ??? (I don't come up with 40)

Hard to say. Apparently someone wasn't paying attention in their junior high school basic science class. Maybe one of those guys that was sleeping or shooting opened-up paper clips at cheerleaders with a rubber band or throwing spit ***** at the clock or some such.

Re: Quick 12 v question

Forgot to post back, finally found one in town. Returning stuff on line is always a pita. I ran it and works fine. Who knows the actual volt rating for the bar. Works better now. Thanks!
