1991 RS Problems
1991 RS Problems
I just bought a 1991 TTOP RS from a friend of mine. The cars been ripped apart and not too sure where certain things go. I was having a problem getting the fuel pump to work. Found out it was a bad ground. I just discovered that the ground is supposed to be bolted somewhere on/around the rear seats. The seats are out so i'm guessing that's why the ground doesn't work. i'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the location of where the ground should be. Also when i'm cranking the car over, my gauges go crazy and then pin all the way up when its running. Anybody know whats wrong? Thanks in advance for any answers/help.

Re: 1991 RS Problems
You most likely have ground problems, plural. You can ground the fuel pump anywhere where can make a good ground though the thicker the metal the better. Check all the main grounds for corrosion and tightness. Make sure it is bare metal with a star washer where it is grounding too. Go over to www.austinthirdgen.org and take a look at the wiring schematics they have posted.
