No fuel pump relay with key.

87 z28 305 TPI. My fuel pump relay will trigger with a ground to the blue wire on the relay or with power to the g on aldl but not with the key. Has anyone had this happen to them? Also if a car has been sitting how long should it take to build up oil pressure so the distributor send spark? Thanks.

Re: No fuel pump relay with key.

I have had this issue. When I put power to the fuel pump at the ALDL, it would turn on, but the car would still not fire. I'm pretty sure because the computer was not actually powering on. It ended up being a "fuse-able link" for main power that was the culprit. What I did as a temporary solution was I ran a hot wire from my starter to my fuse panel under the driver's dash to the "battery" terminal, this was before I even knew there was a fuse-able link in there.

Re: No fuel pump relay with key.

If you're talking about the fuse on the passenger side firewall its still good. And from what I've read my computer has power because my service engine soon light works. Do you know of another way to test computer power? Thanks.

Re: No fuel pump relay with key.

Jump the A and B terminals on the ALDL connector with key off and then turn it to run. If it blinks the 12 code, then the computer is getting power.

Re: No fuel pump relay with key.

Check to see if you have power in the fuse box under the driver's side dash at the terminal marked for Battery (might say Batt). That's how I found my problem, if you have power there, your problem will be different than what I had.
