Might vary based on year, but for my 89 the Tach wire is D6 on the C100 connector. This connector is the weather pack connector located on the firewall right next to the Brake Booster.

Tach at D6, Oil pressure at E5, Coolant gauge at F5
All remained the same for all 3rd gens regardless of year and drivetrain

Pocket, in order to make my tach work I need to hook up a 12v ign wire with a 1k resistor to the white wire, right? Is that all I need to do or is it also necessary to make changes with hptuners ?

Re: 87 gta tach wire location

Most firebirds require a step-up booster wire. I use a 680ohm resistor hooked to a fused 12v IGN source, but there isnt a set rule for how much it needs

You also need to change the tach output from 4cl to 8cyl
