Water in Headlights

When I got the car out of the garage for the summer, the passenger headlight was full of water. Took apart the headlight and drained it and dried it all up and replaced it.

Moved it on the drive the other day and noticed that water has got into it again.
Anyone else have/had this problem and is there anything I can do to prevent it? It's going to be a ball ache if I have to do it every time I wash it.

Re: Water in Headlights

Happens all the time.

Usual cause is getting hit by a stone or something, just like a windshield gets rock pecks in it.

Just get a new one. The air that gets let in, let alone the water, corrodes the reflective coating and turns it black, which renders the light very dim.

Re: Water in Headlights

Had this issue on my 91 with the smaller rectangular lights. I put a bead of RTV around the housing where it meets the glass and that did it for me.
