Tach problems?
I am having some weird problems with my stock tach in my 1982 Z28. I took this car apart about 10 years ago, everything was working good at that time. Being budget minded, I installed an MSD 8364 ign module donated from a friend of mine that used it on his circle track car. I finally got the car running. and life is good, BUT the tach goes to max rpm upon start up, then as the car warms up (electric choke goes off) then it idles about 3000 and goes back to max rpm when you drive. I called MSD and the first guy said to disconnect the stock tach filter. No change, then the second guy said to connect the white wire directly to the tach terminal, no change. But he did point out that the tach does not go back to zero when I cut off the ign, it just stops. In addition the radio does not cut off when the ign is turned off, and the clock function is always on. Are all of these things connected?
