One front speaker not working?

Hi, My 87 firebird was in storage for many years and everything works except for the left front speaker. Before I start tearing into things, has anyone had the problem of one speaker not working and what was the fix.

Thanks in advance,

Louis

Re: One front speaker not working?

I'd go right after the "bad" speaker first. Since the dash pad will be off you can swap the good side install it on the 'bad' side to see if it works or not. I have had radios with a bad/failed channel before and it's very possible that the radio itself is to blame...... But check the speaker first. There's a *chance* that crud build up on the speaker terminals is causing a bad connection.

Thanks John,

You were exactly right. The dash was easier than I thought to remove. Swapped the right speaker, the good one with the left and it confirmed that the left speaker was bad. I have not had a bad speaker in years. I have ordered new ones.

thanks,

Louis

I had the same problem last week, swap the speakers and it worked, perfect excuse to get a new pair with more power.
