Gauge fuse keeps blowing

What's up guys I got a 91 trans am with a 350 tpi. Today I was driving to work and all of a sudden the gauges went out. I replaced the fuse and instantly the fuse blew again. I've never had problems with it before all nova sudden it popped. Any idea where I should be looking for a short

Outrages Gages

Disconnect the connector behind the dash.

If the fuse still blows you will know the short is in the wiring from the fuse block going to the dash.

If the fuse no longer blows you will know the short is in the dash.

I think the TTC is also run through the gauge fuse.

As well as, a bunch of the "driven" type things under the hood that the ECM works: EGR, AIR, stuff like that. The pink/blk wires.

If your drivin' the 1991 Trans Am GTA, check to see if a dime fell in the cigarette lighter socket.

If the lighter socket is clear - or if you're workin' on a I_R_O_C_Z_2_8 - then you'll need to check every accessory that's connected to the Gauges fuse.

I accidently clicked theare a report button and replies sorry about that. But I figured it out the wires from the smog pump where touching the edelbrock runners. I forgot I had taped them off when I cancelled the pump. But I got it no more fuses blowing. Thank you for all the help.

Re: Gauge fuse keeps blowing

My issue wound up being chaffing on the harness above the fuse block. On the upper portion of the drivers kick panel area the harness was contacting and rubbing against a metal support and shorting out the power wires from that fuse. Repaired the damaged area and re-secured away from the contact point. Has been good ever since.
