92 Camaro RS - Adding a rear hatch release
92 Camaro RS - Adding a rear hatch release
I purchased the FSM for the 92 model, and even in there, the sections aren't clear on how the wire up a hatch release.
Did 92 ever come with a hatch release? If so, anyone know what's needed to convert over? I can build harnesses and know how to utilize fuses and relays. Just wondering if the rear hatch motor has the pigtail or capability already, or if anyone's done it before
Thank you

Early 91's and older are pretty easy to convert, you just peel the foam off the pigtail for the switch and plug it in, then find the relay connector and plug in a horn relay, then change the cable on the trunk motor to the one with a solenoid and plug it in.
91.5 and 92 are a little different because the pulldown is different from the earlier cars. Do a search and you'll probably find specific information for a later car. All the wiring should already be there.
From looking at the GM parts and illustrations catalog, they list two different lock mechanisms depending on if the car had (A90) the hatch release. Just judging from the diagram, it looks like the easiest way to convert the pulldown would be to just get the entire pulldown from a car with the A90 remote release. Just remember you need a late 91, or a 92, the early style won't interchange without a ton of work.
