Fuel Pump Fuse keeps blowing problem
92 3.1 v6. Problem started earlier today when I hit a bump an car suddenly died. pulled to side of road and tried to start but just cranked.. I noticed that my check engine light wasn't coming on and then off like it normally does when I turn the key to on. Also fuel pump wasn't coming on. so checked the fuse and it was so blown. so popped another one in and same thing again and again,. Also disconnected the plug at the back of the fuel pump and still blows the fuse. Any help were to start? Also my ground cable on battery was a bit loose. Could i have fried my ecm>?

Re: Fuel Pump Fuse keeps blowing problem
You have a dead short to ground. The fuse on the fenders powers the ecm and goes to the ops then onto the fp.You might want to pull the connects at the ops and see if the fuse blows.

Re: Fuel Pump Fuse keeps blowing problem
The 3rd gen fuel pump relays are notorious for shorting between adjacent wires. If it did then you should see melting/deformation/heat damage to the wire or connector.
The nice thing about a short to ground is it usually leaves visible damage from heat and can be found if you follow the harness. It is the high resistance & intermittent shorts that are a pain in the derriere to find.
