TurnSignal/Cruise lever - GM or Rock Auto?
TurnSignal/Cruise lever - GM or Rock Auto?
Hi-
Fixing loose steering column so while in there replacing turn signal lever....1989 Trans Am - with Cruise/Delay.
Trying to decide if I should order up GM OEM# 25111290 (ranges from 110-180$) or use one of the two aftermarket switched Rock Auto sells...one is Standard Motor DS1534 for $39.79 and the other is Airtex -Wells 1S2012 for $58.99....anyone know how these aftermarket items are? I am all for GM OEM when needed, but a few items aftermarket are the exact same... ?
Thx In Advance

Others might have different experiences, but the two times I've replaced turn signal switches in GM cars, I used aftermarket switches.
In both cases, the switches failed within 2 years.
I'd spend the extra, and get a (hopefully) better quality switch. Replacing the turn signal switch isn't a job I enjoyed doing twice.

The only reason I have had to go GM was the appearance.
The only electric part inside the stalk is the cruise switch; not much to fail.

I was under the impression he was going to replace the switch. My apologies if I misunderstood.

The GM stalk has crisper lettering and for that reason, I have never used a aftermarket lever.
