MANUAL TRANS HELP!
MANUAL TRANS HELP!
Ok so I know there is a chip or circuit you can buy for a stick shift that prevents you from rolling back on a hill what is it called? Yes I know about heel toe but I'd rather not worry when someone gets right up on my a** I'd use my e brake but of course it doesn't work all in all I need the chip/circuit so direction would be much appreciated

No such thing that I've ever heard of. Granted, I've only been driving stick shifts for 45 years or so, so I'm kind of a n00b at it; but, just sayin.
It's a skill.

No such thing just practice. I learned my stick shift skills from a 66 mustang with manual clutch, brakes and steering. Pretty good at it now after 34 years.

Some people have been known to use a line-lock for that... kinda in the same class as using a hydrogen bomb to swat a gnat, but w/e.
Let us know how that works out.

There IS such a thing. It's called hill assist and is an advanced feature of 2010+ cars it measures vehicle incline angle and holds brake pressure for a half second.
Three options:
1. Practice.
2. Fix your ebrake.
3. Buy a much newer car.
I don't use the ebrake. This tells you that all you really need is practice.

Studebaker used to have such a device (back in the 1930's). Studebaker used to build horse drawn wagons that had a similar mechanism, so I guess it was a logical extension for them to put them on their automobiles.
It used to be a big deal featured in Subaru commercials.
A Hurst line lock was the first thing that came to mind.

If you don't want to roll on a hill then let the clutch out part way to take up the slack, momentarily pause for a fraction of a second while you switch your brake foot to the gas, and then drive off under easy throttle. The steeper the hill the quicker you'll have to be. Do not rev the **** out of the engine on a hill with the clutch partially engaged.

My best bud, growing up, parents had an 85-6-ish (hard to remember that far back) AWD Subaru turbo wagon 5sp that had the 'hill holder' feature
https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2013/0...80s-subaru-xt/
"Buyers could opt for a five-speed manual transmission (which further included a “Hill-Holder” feature to prevent rollback on steep grades) or a three-speed automatic, and like many Subaru models of the day, the XT came in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive."
Was a great little 'sleeper' car for a turd brown wagon in it's day.
