Battery questions
Battery questions
Hey guys, I have a 92 camaro that I need to get a new Battery for.
I'm looking long term, need something that is going to last, I'm in a fairly temperate area, Myrtle Beach sc, and plan to eventual make this a show quality car with a beefy sound system. I'm not a huge car guy, yet, but trying to learn as I go.
Any help is appreciated on brands, type, suggestions etc
Thanks

Re: Battery questions
Will your car be driven regularly or parked most of the time?
If it's parked, consider getting some kind of battery maintenance charger:

I'm still running a 16 year old DieHard battery in my Camaro. When not being driven, the battery has been on a maintenance charger since 2000.

Re: Battery questions
If you want a car with a powerful sound system I would steer you towards a Marine battery like this one: http://www.autozone.com/miscellaneou...ent/107676_0_0
This would be for a trunk mounted battery and it's what I will use when my Optima dies. Optima is a good battery but I don't think the price is worth it anymore, not to mention they are now 2-4 X as expensive as a regular battery. For a stock size battery I would go with whatever battery has the best warranty and then spend the money upgrading the positive and ground cables and the alternator.

Re: Battery questions
If you want a battery to last then get a battery lower in the CCA range for the group size (physical dimensions) that you are considering. The lower CCA batteries have fewer, sturdier plates. And you won't need high CCA considering you live in warm region.

Re: Battery questions
That's a nice battery Tibo is showing.
When you pick out a battery just be careful with a tall top post when you close the hood. If they make contact your in trouble.
I like the Walmart Brand "Everstart Maxx"
The last one lasted me over 7 years.
$87.96
