fuse-able links to starter
fuse-able links to starter
My son has a 85 trans am with the 5.0 HO, carburetor. To day he called and said his car stopped working, NO power to the ignition, only thing that works is the interior light.Towed it home and found that one of the wire's that go to the starter was broken and had melted the out casing.Their are a total of three wire's that come down from the harness, and connect to the starter. One hook's to the smaller terminal, and the other two ,one that has a fusible link and the melted one.I followed it up and it was connected to a large red wire. I jump the
red wire and he got power back. MY QUESTION IS,IS THAT FRIED WIRE A FUSIBLE LINK? and if it is , WHAT SIZE SHOULD IT BE? THE SAME AS THE OTHER ONE?
Thanks Dave

Re: fuse-able links to starter
Sounds like its a fusible link. these should have more info on the wire... last link is probably the best.
