84 Trans Am won't hold charge

Just picked up this 84 T/A this past week. Very good condition with only 15k miles. Problem is the car needs jumped everyday as it won't hold a charge. After jump started, it runs fine. Just won't hold a charge. The previous owner had a new alternator and battery put in but I do not think its the right alternator. I am just getting reacquainted with these third gens again so take it easy on me. I believe they put the wrong alternator in but I could be wrong. What would be the correct part number for the alternator for an 1984 Trans Am 5.0 305 HO 4BBL. I am just now really researching this problem and have only had the car 4 days. Thank you.

First off, nice find! Second, if it runs after you jump it, the alternator is working as it should. I would suspect that the battery is defective and you need to check it. If the battery is actually good, disconnect it overnight and reconnect it in the morning. If it starts fine you have a drain somewhere in the vehicle that is killing the battery. Good luck!
