Won't crank
Won't crank
I have a 1989 firebird with a 2.8 v6 5 speed, everything electronically works, but the starter will not click. I have replaced the starter and bypassed the clutch safety switch. Idk what to look for next

Re: Won't crank
What was the first thing that was different? And exactly what happens when you turn the key? What lights up, moves, blinks, etc...
Re: Won't crank
turn the key, everything lights up fine, the fuel pump turns on the security light goes on for a second and then goes off, go to start the temp gauge goes to the left, nothing clicks or turns over

No Crank I Thank
Use a voltmeter or test bulb to probe the wire going to the solenoid power input.
Make the wire long enuff to bring into the cockpit.
Now, when you try to crank, but there is no click, is there power?
If yes, the solenoid is bad, even tho new.
Next check for a loose connection as mentioned above.
Once you clean or verify that connection is clean but the problem persists, you can connect a wire to the ‘M’ connection.
Make the wire long enuff to bring into the cockpit.
Connect a bulb to the wire, and ground the other terminal of the bulb.
Now, when you try to start, but it won’t crank, observe if the bulb is lit.
If no, the solenoid is bad.
If yes, the starter is bad.
