Help! Car alarm causing issues

Im fairly new here so stick with me anyhow, I have an 87 Z28 , I got it with a car alarm installed in it , the alarm is a viper model 400 I cannot find any info on the alarm and I do not have the key fob for it . Currently I don't have it connected to the battery , however if I unplug the box pictures below the car will not start , the key just turns and the gauges like bounce, I want to remove it but don't know where to start any help would be awesome.

If you can't find an installation manual you will probably have to spend some time in some wiring diagrams and reattach the wires going in to the system to the wires going out of the system.

Yeah im going to have to do that, it's going to be unfortunate. This car has been a wiring nightmare. I appreciate the help, guess I'll be going over the wiring diagrams for a while .

Re: Help! Car alarm causing issues

I payed a shop that specializes in automotive electronics to remove an dysfunctional/temperamental aftermarket alarm system from my car.
It was a "Python" system made by the same company that makes the "Viper" = Directed Electronics.

When they handed it back to me it looked like 20ft of wire and relays and censers in a card board box. A lot of crap for sure.

They did not just pull it out but had to cut it out and re-solder the stock wires.

That's my suggestion. Have it all removed by a reputable shop.

Cost me $40.00

I do believe strongly in a "simple" basic aftermarket alarm system because I like the flashing LED,Starter "kill" aspect, but mostly the "Siren".
I sleep better at night knowing its there to warn me if someone messes with my car.

Having key less entry and lock is a nice feature also that comes with most systems.

That and a "KILL Switch" is really all that's needed.
