Third brake light not lighting
I'm trying to get my '89 Formula back on the road for the first time in years. Everything seems good except the third brake light won't come on. The bulbs are perfectly fine. I'm assuming the metal contacts and plate next to the hatch release are what power that light. Could that be the problem? The hatch appears to not close all the way (it stays slightly above the sides of the car) so maybe the 2 pieces aren't touching to get power to the lights?

You can use a voltmeter to probe those contacts while a friend depresses the brake pedal to see if voltage is present.
If there’s voltage there, use an ohmmeter to the other contacts.
A good circuit will give a reading of approximately 55 ohms.
So if both halves of the circuit are good, the problem is the non-fully closing hatch.
