Hello everyone...

Hi guys. New to the 3rd gens. I have a 87 trans am GTA that I picked up a couple weeks ago, It has a 5.3 LS with a 4L60E. I've been on here, (not as a member) looking and reading, using the search tool to find the cause of my headlight issue. I think I have read every thread that's been posted. So I bought the car and the passenger headlight didn't work at all, and the driver side went up and down but made a hell of a racket. So I went to top down solutions and bought his rebuild kit. Put them in, driver side went up and down fine. Passenger side wouldn't do anything. Checked to see if the wires at the motor had power, and it didn't. So after reading on here to check the headlight control module. I went and pulled it apart and found that the relay inside. There was a wire had melted thru the plastic covering. So I found the relay online, ordered and replaced it, along with soldering all the connections. Put it back together and now I have power (12.49) going into the module, out of the module. Oh and I Replaced the headlight switch. Is it possible for the passenger motor to be junk? Tried just using wires to connect it directly to the battery and it went partly down, but wouldn't go back up. Just thought I'd ask before I go purchasing a motor. Don't know what else it could be considering everything else is working. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it immensely! I'm at the end of my rope with this headlight motor....

Re: Hello everyone...

Try to plug the working motor into the other side and see if it operates. Maybe with jumper wires so not to pull them back out.

Re: Hello everyone...

Ok. So I plugged the "bad motor" into the driver side plug flipped the switch a couple times and nothing happened. Plugged the driver side motor back into its plug and it worked just fine. Safe to say that passenger motor is junk?
