Re: how to wire a toggle switch for electric fan

First is to test that the fan will actually run. In the passenger side head is the fan coolant temperature switch (between 6 & 8). Single dark green wire.

Remove the connector from the switch and ground that wire to the engine. Do a key-on, engine-off and the fan should run. If the fan runs that switch may be bad, it closes at a high 238° F.

Now all you need to do is to ground that dark green wire with the toggle switch for manual control. I do recommend retaining the coolant temperature switch in case you forget or if someone else drives the car, This way either switch will run the fan.

I would strongly recommend NOT adding a toggle switch to operate the fan, and above all, NOT depending on it as the primary means of turning it on.

All it takes is ONE TIME of the least reliable element in the whole chain - the HUMAN - being their usual unreliable self, and you will have a melt-down.

If the automatic features of the system - temp sw & relay - are not working properly, repair them instead.
