If it had VATS, then you'll probably have to go to a Chevy dealership, and they'll have to find out the resistance of the original key.

if its VATS your in trouble...i did that in my 90 TA and had a chevy dealer fix it..they had to get the resistance of the key..then go into the switch and get the lock `keys` itll cost ya about 150 bux...it that dont work theyll have to replace your ignition switch (like they did with mine) wound up costing me 220 bux to get a damn key back...sux but had to be done.

OR

you might be able to disable VATS and just get a locksmith to make you a straight key for it, i disabled my VATS to install my remote start on my alarm instead of using the relay to keep it.

err wait..youll have to somehow get the resistance it needs to disable..and without the key, the dealership would still have to do it..oh well..i tried

If it is VATS, then go here to learn how to disable it. I think there's 15 different resistors, maybe more, that GM put in their keys. Mine's 1470 ohms, maybe yours is too.
